Timpanogos Cave National Monument Tours

Overview:

NOTICE: You must stop at the visitor center before starting your hike to the cave. The Cave Tour Time you select begins at the visitor center, NOT at the cave entrance.The Timpanogos Cave System is accessed by hiking a strenuous 1.5 mile paved trail with an elevation gain of 1,100 vertical feet. ALL visitors are required to have a ticket, including infants.

Located high on the steep rocky slopes of American Fork Canyon in the shadow of Mt. Timpanogos in Utah’s Wasatch Range are three limestone caves: Hansen Cave, Middle Cave and Timpanogos Cave. These exquisite caverns are decorated with an elaborate display of helictites, anthodites and other formations in a variety of colors. Timpanogos Cave National Monument preserves these caves and their fragile underground wonders for you and for future generations to enjoy.

Explore an underground world: Taste the thrill of caving as you twist and bend to enter beautifully decorated rooms. Learn the science behind formations and hear fascinating stories of discovery as you journey through natural passageways. After completing the hike, visitors will experience all three caves on a ranger-led tour. The route through the cave is paved, lighted and has several flights of stairs.

*Customers may request changes at no cost or cancellations up to 24 hours before your tour. Cancellations must be made by calling 1-877-444-6777. Customers who cancel within 24 hours and no-shows will forfeit the tour fee

Location
Timpanogos Cave National Monument is located in the Wasatch Mountains in northern Utah, approximately 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. Visit the Directions and Transportation page for details and maps.

It is not recommended to rely on your GPS system for accurate directions. If you have questions please call the visitor center at (801) 756-5239 ext 205.

From Park City: Take I-80 West for 21 miles to Salt Lake City. Take I-15 South for 20.6 miles to Exit 284. Take UT-92 East for 10 miles to Timpanogos Cave National Monument


From Heber: Take US-189 South for 21.4 miles to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Turn right onto UT-52 for 2.4 miles to US-89. Turn right onto US-89 north for 3.8 miles to Pleasant Grove. Veer right onto UT-146 for 5.2 miles to the mouth of American Fork Canyon. Merge onto UT-92 going east for 2.4 miles to Timpanogos Cave National Monument.


From Salt Lake City: Take I-15 South to Exit 284. Take UT-92 East for 10 miles to Timpanogos Cave National Monument.


From Provo/Orem: Take I-15 North to Exit 284. Take UT-92 East for 10 miles to Timpanogos Cave National Monument.
