South Teton/Buck Mt. Pass

Following the South Fork of Teton Creek, this trail offers a fairly easy but long 7.7 mile hike.  About a mile up the trail, on your left, Roaring Creek cascades down the cliffs. The trail stays right of the creek, passing through forest and meadows before reaching the junction with Devils Stairs/Teton Canyon shelf at 2.7 miles.  Continue on the main trail until you reach the head of Teton Canyon, where the scenic lakes and smooth rock ledges of Alaska Basin lie.  The Basin is a heavily used overnight camping area that is neither open to fires nor horse camping/grazing. This route is extremely popular and is not recommended for visitors seeking a true wilderness experience.
