Pumphouse Recreation Site is located on the Colorado river, downstream from the Town of Kremmling and Gore Canyon. Pumphouse is a very popular float boat put-in point for private rafting, kayaking, and guided fishing and rafting trips on the Class II/III segment of the Upper Colorado River. The site offers three boat launches (two paved, one rail) and parking. A prominent feature is the Gore Canyon Whitewater Park, constructed by Grand County in 2015. Pumphouse Campground, adjacent to the boat launches, provides 20 standard campsites with tables and fire grills for up to 10 people per site; 2 group campsites for up to 30 people per site; 1 picnic shelter with 4 picnic tables, 3 boat launches, and 4 accessible vault toilets.
Over 90,000 people visit the Upper Colorado River between Memorial Day and September 30 each year. About half of these visitors are with commercial float and fishing trips that arrive early in the day for full and half day float trips down the river. The area is very busy on weekends, especially in July and August. Pumphouse is also located along the beautiful Colorado River Headwaters National Scenic Byway. For more information, please contact the Kremmling Field Office.
