The picnic area is a Civilian Conservation Corps construction from the mid-1900's. This path is within a premier area for viewing Kirtland's warblers. Other recreation opportunities include hunting, picnicking, mushroom gathering and berry picking. Fishing for trout is also popular.

- Turn left and travel west.
- Turn right and travel north on CR-F41 for 13.2 miles.
- Turn left and travel west on CR-F30 for 8.5 miles.
- Turn left and travel south on Rearing Pond Trail/Forest Rd. 4121 for 3 miles.
