Mount Rushmore National Memorial

The State of South Dakota and the National Park Service are teaming up to bring fireworks to Mount Rushmore National Memorial for a spectacular Independence celebration on July 3, 2020. The event will include a fireworks display and other entertainment.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a symbol of American freedom and hope for people of all cultures and backgrounds. The enduring images from this Memorial welcome more than three million visitors a year from across the country and around the world.

The surrounding Black Hills, Jewel Cave National Monument, Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, and Devils Tower, Badlands and Wind Cave National Parks, offer a variety of experiences and plenty of recreation opportunities for those who plan to visit any time of year.

EVENT DETAILS:

  • Visitors attending the event will be required to obtain tickets in advance.
    • Zone 1 – seating will be in the amphitheater area or on the Grand View Terrace and on-site parking is included.
    • Zone 2 – viewing will be along Highway 244 within the park. Seating not provided. Viewing may be limited in some areas.
  • The programming and event will begin approximately at 4pm and be completed by approximately 10pm Mountain Time. Please allow ample time as security screening will be required for this event.
  • The park will be closed to general visitation effective midnight July 2rd until 3:00pm July 3rd at which time only ticketed participants will be allowed entry.
