The Baldy Lake Trailhead is a small primitive trailhead that is located on the southwest edge of the North Fork John Day Wilderness and accesses the upper valley to Baldy Lake. It is most often used by day hikers, and fall hunters.
Directions
From Baker City, Oregon, take State Highway 7 south for about 26 miles to State Highway 220 (also known as Sumpter Valley Highway or the Elkhorn Drive Scenic Byway); Turn right on State 220 towards Sumpter and go about 23.5 miles to Forest Road 7345; Turn right at Forest Road 7345 and go about 5 miles to a large roadside opening. The site does not have any facilities.
Note: The 7345 road is steep and rough. High clearance or 4×4 vehicles are recommneded.
