Blackmore Creek Trailhead

Large, developed trailhead and picnic area adjacent to Hyalite Reservoir

Parking, accessible vault toilets available and drinking water available. The main trail leads to Blackmore Lake and continues onto Mt. Blackmore.

From the same parking area you may also take the trail along the west shore of the reservoir and return via the Crescent Lake Trail.

Buck Ridge

Trailhead at the end of Doe Creek Road, small parking area.  Trail follows ridgeline between Buck Creek to the south and the Big Sky area to the north.  Connects to numerous side trails.

Middle Cottonwood Trailhead

Popular hiking trail providing access to the southwestern portion of the Bridger Foothills National Recreation Trail.

Parking area at end of access road.

Directions

From I-90 and the North 7th Avenue overpass, drive 2 miles north on the Frontage Road to the light at Springhill Road. Turn right and continue 3.4 miles to Toohey Road. There is a sign for Middle Cottonwood Creek. Turn right on Toohey Road and drive 1.7 miles to Walker Road. Turn right on Walker Road. Walker Road turns left at about ¼ mile and becomes Saddle Mountain Road. Stay on this road for about 3.2 miles to the Middle Cottonwood Trailhead.

 

The trailhead can also be reached from Sypes Canyon Road, turning left on Sumner Cutoff Road and then right on Saddle Mountain Road to the trailhead.  The trailhead is clearly marked; in the summer.

Palisade Falls Trailhead

Popular 1/2 mile nature trail, fully accessible and paved, providing views to Palisade Falls.  Picnic area and accessible vault toilet at trailhead.  No drinking water available.

Teepee Creek Trailhead

Trailhead with ample parking for a trailer.  Provides access between Buffalo Horn Creek drainage and Yellowstone National Park.  No other facilities are available.

Truman Gulch Trailhead

Provides access to the west central Bridgers.  There is a developed trailhead at the end of the road with a parking area and horse loading ramp. 

Trail feeds into the Bridger Foothills Trail.

Directions

From Bozeman drive 2 miles north on 7th Avenue (West Frontage Road) to Springhill Road. Turn right at the light.  Heading north on Springhill Road, travel 8.5 miles to Springhill Community Road on the right. There will be a sign for Truman Gulch. Turn right and continue for 1.6 miles to Walker Road.

Springhill Church is on the corner.  Turn right and drive 1.1 miles to Forswell Road on the left. Continue 3 miles to the trailhead at the end of the road.

Lower Fairy Lake Trailhead/Sno-park

Lower trailhead and parking area for sno-park providing winter access to the Bridger Range.

Directions

From Bozeman, head north on Hwy 86/ Bridger Canyon Road for approximately 21 to 22 miles.  Turnoff is past Battle Ridge Pass and Brackett Creek Y.

Turn left on Fairy Lake Road (Forest Road #74).  Snopark is about 1 – 1.5 miles up the road and provides access to upper Fairy Lake in winter.
